This vintage handmade cotton “Betsy Ross” flag is a striking piece of American history and patriotic folk art. It features one of the earliest and most recognisable designs of the United States flag. The classic “Betsy Ross” pattern with 13 alternating red and white stripes, symbolises the original thirteen colonies, with a deep blue canton (upper left field) with 13 white stars arranged in a circle, representing unity among the states.
Made from woven cotton fabric, with hand-stitched detailing that gives it a distinct handcrafted character.
Historical Context:
- The circular 13-star pattern is widely known as the “Betsy Ross” design, associated with Philadelphia upholsterer Betsy Ross (1752–1836), who made flags and uniforms for Continental forces. While there is no firm evidence she created the first American flag, her name remains linked with this iconic early design.
Condition:
- In good vintage condition with gentle signs of age and use. Colours have softened over time, and the white stripes now show a warm, aged tone that enhances its authentic character.

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
